Dale Earnhardt Jr. 'totally OK' with G-W-C finish at Talladega

TALLADEGA, Ala. – Dale Earnhardt Jr. was perhaps less than two laps away from what would have been the greatest victory of his career, a stirring win that would have firmly established him as the best restrictor-plate racer of his generation.
Actually, he might still be the latter; he just doesn't have the victory to show for it.
"I was going to win the race for sure," he said, "but that caution came out."
Ah yes, that caution. The caution which may have been intentionally caused by Kevin Harvick — depending which driver you ask — and forced NASCAR to end the race prematurely. When the yellow flag came out, officials determined Joey Logano was slightly ahead of Earnhardt — and just like that, the No. 88 team's Chase for the Sprint Cup was over at Talladega for the second straight year.
